I have written about fats and oils in the past but new research is constantly coming out so here is a refresher and some updates. Our bodies do need FATS!!! We just need to educate ourselves in which are beneficial and which are not. More and more research is showing that there are good fats and bad fats. All this new info can be confusing. We do know that Trans Fats are bad for us. They can cause heart problems and clog our arteries to name just two. Beware that Vegetable Oils when heated can turn to trans fats. All Saturated Fats are not created equally. Coconut oil and olive oil are two oils that have many health benefits. Coconut oil is a great oil to cook with because it has a high burning point. Another suggestion is to rotate the type of seed oils one uses. Check out these websites for more info about the good and bad of oils.

I have always stressed that variety and moderation is so important, especially when we are nourishing our bodies. Next month look for another healthful use for coconut oil and sesame seed oil.
